The clan PC case.
« on: November 09, 2011, 04:31:15 PM »

Hello all.

I decided to finally really build a clan PC case based on a game most of us play or will be playing, Star Wars The Old Republic. The idea behind this case was Sith based, meaning red led's and black, silent and deadly, Technically advanced yet a bit rough around the edges perhaps. I decided to base the case for the very popular Corsair 600t case  http://www.corsair.com/pc-cases/graphite-series-pc-case/graphite-series-600t-mesh-mid-tower-gaming-case.html

I have decided to take the back side cover of the case and cut out the Sith emblem. Then adhere a red acrylic piece to the back side and light it up with some Led's.

Also to go with this theme some other red acrylic accents in various places.

Phobya red led 120mm fans will replace the stock corsair 200mm fans for better looks and better airflow.

Ok i found an issue with the red UV reactive acrylic. It's not red! To me it looks more orange. When i hold a piece up in the light it looks more like a redish pink. Since it is UV reactive i will order some UV led's or cold cathode tubes to make sure it actually glows red as i want. If it doesn't i will get some translucent red acrylic and see how that looks. Completely a shame too because it took a couple of hours to make that piece and get it to fit. At least if i do have to make another one i have a template now.

i tested the stock air flow with the 200mm fans that corsair provides. Now with the dual 120mm Phobya fans in place i can say that air flow is much better and the Phobya fans are quieter. That's a plus plus!

I am hoping this weekend to get the Sith emblem cut into the back panel so i hope to post some pics of that work soon. Unfortunately funds do not allow me to order up any UV led's so it will be next week sometime before i find out the fate of the orange/pinkish/red UV reactive acrylic.

Honestly i am really digging the new build on the clan pc case. Agent orange will most likely end up for sale soon so all the hard ware  will get transferred over to " PROJECT SITH"

More updates coming as the Sith logo gets cut this weekend!

Here are some updated pics of the sith emblem cut. I can tell you mt idea was to mass market these and make a bunch of cash. Well they are a pain in the ass to make. Took like 3 hours of cutting and used all my grinding disk. I tried to be as careful as possible but all it takes is one slip of the dremel and you have more work to do later. Therefor these will be limited to TE clan only.

I cant wait to get the red acrylic behind this thing. It's turning out great and worth the work. I have just a few more parts to order so the air cooled version of this case may be done by the weekend or early next week!

Seriously just a bit pissed off right now. I went with a different supplier for the transparent red acrylic. it came ups today. I pulled it out of the box, traced the pattern and made the cuts. Pulled off the protective paper and guess what. It's not F'ing red!!!!!!!!!!

So i just ordered 3 more sheets from a different supplier yet so lets hope there is a difference between mod right acrylic and A.C.Ryan acrylic. This acrylic is getting expensive at $20 for a 24in x 12in sheet.

Finally got the red acrylic i have been wanting. everything is installed although i am still not happy with the amount of glow i get from the sith emblem and the rest of the case. i have ordered some more led strips that i feel will take care of that situation. So the air cooled version is about done.

I plan to borrow my brothers much better camera, disassemble the case and re take photos of everything so you can get a better idea of what it really looks like.

Willie......Vega......get your orders ready!

Project Sith prototype is sold. Once the led's strips and the wiring get here it will be on its way to it's new owner.

I used the money to immediately buy all the parts i need to make another one.

I am hard to please and very picky about things but i can say i am very impressed with the build quality of this corsair case, the features it has and the amount of room it has inside for hardware. I can also say i am pretty happy with how this build turned out. The new owner should be pleased but if not i hope to get feedback on what could be changed or different on the next build.

Project Agent Orange will be getting a face lift and then moved down the road as Project Sith V2 will get all the hardware moved into it.
