So i have been getting the camaro tuned and i think it's pretty fast. People that ride in the car with me are thoroughly impressed. But I'm not! When i am on the gas hard it just doesn't seem like it's fast enough. I mean i want the car to scare me when i am on the gas hard and right now it just doesn't.

So here are my thoughts on it.

Change the rear gear ratio's and add a gear vendors overdrive to my transmission: This  would make the car pull harder due to the lower rear gear ratio but the over drive in each gear ( gear vendors makes my TH350 into a 6speed ) would still give me overdrive and a decent cruise rpm on the high way.

Add about 150 hp in Nitrous oxide: this would give me around 700hp and around 600lb ft of torque. Side effects would be that its a little harder on the motor and the power would be more than whats rated for my transmission and my rear end.

cost?

rear gear change: $190
gear vendor overdrive: $2500


nitrous kit: $500.00
rear end change : $1200
replace transmission or rebuild transmission all the time: to damn much!

I am tired of working on this car for this year. I am going to save for paint and get that done next. Then i will worry about making it faster and handle better. Too bad the paint i picked out cost $647.00 a gallon, just for the paint Shocked

Ok you so dont need a Nitrous Kit, that will just kill the muscle, makes it like a fake muscle car.

I say do what you want as long as you like it. To me a muscle car like Vega said doesn't even need nitrous. I bet your car currently scares other people if you smash the gas to the floor. Tongue

What i really want is a twin turbo ls-7.

The ls-7 is now in the factory corvette z06 cars. 427 ci small block, all aluminum motor producing 505 hp and 500 ft.lb of torque along with being 250 pounds lighter than my current gen 1 small block. Add in the twinn turbo kit and your talking 800 hp and around 900 lb ft of torque. Connect this to a 4l80e 4spd overdrive transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters. I'm getting wood just thinking about it!

cost:

ls-7  $14,000.00
ls-7 twin turbo kit  $7,000
built 4l80 transmission  $3500
computer controller and paddle shifters  $2000
misc other parts to make it all work  $1500
the look on peoples faces when i blow there doors off and then pop the hood   PRICELESS!

No Jap crap. I have seen the twin turbo'ed supra motor in an 1967 camaro producing 1200 hp to the rear tires. Cool but it just isn't right!

A muscle car needs to sound like a muscle car. a small block or a big block with a turbo or even nitrous still sounds like a muscle car.

My motor produces 534hp with full exhaust. I think it's got plenty of power but just needs a gearing change to make it pull like i want it,maybe!
